Cody and Matt Paragliding in Iquique, Chile (June, 2016)

With Eliza and the kids visiting the US during the kids' school holidays in the North American summer, Cody (with next door neighbor and good friend, Matt) decided to head off for a weekend guys trip full of adrenaline and adventure. The first stop on the way from Santiago, Chile to La Paz, Bolivia (6 hour layover) was in Iquique, Chile, a city on the Pacific coastline in the northern part of the country. The flight was booked for $265.00 roundtrip on LATAM in Economy Class.

We hopped off the plane and caught a taxi from the airport to the city where we met our guides from Oasisfly Paragliding who drove us up to the top of the hills overlooking the ocean, gave us some quick instruction, and the next thing we knew we ready to run off the edge to do some tandem paragliding over the city and coastline. It was interesting to learn about the upward gusts of air around the dunes and to experience spiraling upwards as we entered into these wind channels. It was a great experience.

Once we were finished, we grabbed some steaks at a local joint in Iquique and then hopped in a taxi to find our way back to the airport to continue our journey of adrenaline to La Paz, Bolivia...
