The kids were out of school for a week for Chilean Independence Day (Sept. 18), so we decided to take a trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. There were no award flights from Santiago, so we had to cross the border from Chile to Argentina in order to find award flights up to Ecuador. Stop #1 on our trip was Córdoba, Argentina (1:30 flight from Santiago). We used 4,500 British Airways miles each plus $30.00 in taxes (x 6) for the flight on LAN (27,000 British Airways Avios plus $180.00 total). We then spent 3,000 Starwood SPG points for 1 night at the Sheraton Córdoba and used an additional 3,000 Starwood SPG points to upgrade our room to a Suite. We were given a room on the 14th floor. We arrived late to Cordoba and got up early, rented a car, and headed outside of the city. We went to a place called Penón del Aguila which had high adventure activities like zip lining across gorges, ropes courses, climbing walls, and archery.
